My Review of Sun Moon (movie)

Today, I have another Pure Flix movie review for you and a giveaway contest at the end of this post! In case you didn’t know, Pure Flix is like the faith-based version of Netflix. It works the same way but the difference is in the content that points you back to Jesus Christ and shows you how much The Creator of the Universe loves you!

Pure Flix is a one-stop shop for faith and family-friendly movies and shows where you can confidently stream in your home with the entire family. With new premium and exclusive original entertainment choices every week, Pure Flix streaming service has the largest variety of high-quality, curated, positive, encouraging, wholesome movies, series and kids' content in one service. Pure Flix is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment, alongside AFFIRM Films.

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review the movie Sun Moon. The main idea for this movie, in words from the producers, is: Kelsey is running from failure, heartbreak and humiliation. In an attempt to understand God’s purpose for her life, she goes to Taiwan to teach English. Will her leap of faith pay off?

I watched this marvelous movie before it was made available for viewing on Pure Flix. It made me laugh out loud, cry for a moment, sigh several times, smile at one point in almost every scene, and seriously crave some bubble tea at the end!

Now for my review:

Sun Moon
is a beautiful story about how God can turn your heartache into hope and make your life a blessing to others along the way. This movie is filled with faith, hope, love, second chances, sweet school children and characters who have a heart for helping each other. The storyline is filled with highs, lows, twists and turns that will keep the viewing audience engaged. It may even make you want to sip some bubble tea (you'll have to watch the movie to find out why). I loved everything about this wonderful movie and it encouraged me in my real-life journey of learning how to step out on faith and follow God's lead where He may send me. Let me highlight a few main points about Sun Moon

MacKenzie Mauzy, the actress who played Kelsey, did a delightful job of portraying this character from heartbreak to hope. She stayed in character throughout the movie’s highs, lows, twists and turns. I’m also impressed how in one scene, she climbed over a very tall gate after-hours so she could return to her apartment. I was hoping she wouldn’t get hurt. The movie watcher may identify with Kelsey’s story—especially those who have experienced being left at the altar in real life. But the story doesn’t end with the pain of jilted bride, it only begins there! This is a wonderful reminder about how God can use our pain to catapult us into our purpose.

Kelsey finds her purpose in Taiwan and her life is forever changed in a very good way! Who knew that answering a call to be a missionary would be just what she needed? Just like in real-life, God knew! Oftentimes, we can forget that God has us right where He wants us to be and we cannot mess up His plan for our lives because the Bible says, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21).

I also like that the storyline showed that despite Kelsey leaving her church and abandoning her faith in God for a while, God never left her alone to do life on her own. He continued to be with her every step of the way even when she tried to run away from Him and push Him away. This is a beautiful portrayal of God’s love that endures forever not just in faith-based fiction stories or in Christian movies, but in the real world.

In conclusion, I’d like to say that Sun Moon should win an award! It was delightfully done in a way that will educate, inspire and encourage viewers to seek God's plan for their life and follow it fearlessly. This movie will touch your heart and help you hope again just when you thought all hope was lost.

Themes of this movie included:

· Keeping up appearances/your image

· Learning new cultures

· Loving all of God’s people, being afraid of losing loved ones/sick relatives

PureFlix Show Review: A Thousand Tomorrows

My Review of Episode 2 from Karen Kingsbury’s series,
A Thousand Tomorrows:

Today, I have another Pure Flix show review for you and a giveaway contest at the end of this post! In case you didn’t know, Pure Flix is like the faith-based version of Netflix. It works the same way, but the difference is in the fact that the content on Pure Flix points you to Jesus Christ and shows you how much The Creator of the Universe loves you!

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review Episode 2 of A Thousand Tomorrows. This show is based on a book from #1 New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury. They say, “Only God knows how many tomorrows we have left. In the dangerous and competitive rodeo world, how will Cody and Ali make the most of their time together?”

This was the focus for Episode 2: As Ali’s health declines, her determination to keep competing catches Cody’s eye. What will her stubbornness to pursue her dreams cost?

Now for my review:

Episode 2 of A Thousand Tomorrows

“I don’t want to be normal. I want to be different. I chose this.” –Ali Daniels

I’d say this quote is the driving force for Ali’s story. She’s bold, brave, determined and dying. Ali is also the one woman who Cody wants that everyone is saying he cannot have.

Cody is the hero of this story. From the start, you will see why he is angry at his dad to the point where he refuses to follow in his footsteps by playing high school football. Instead, he grows up to be a bull rider who uses his anger as the driving force that helps him win every time.

Carl Joseph is Cody’s younger brother who has a disability. He is the reason why Cody’s dad walked out on his family and Cody has never forgiven his dad for making that decision. Cody is close to his brother and very protective of him.

Ali, the heroine of this story, is privately battling an life-threatening illness. Her health starts to decline in this episode and her parents try to intervene. But she’s bent on riding horses in the rodeo and making it to the major competition in a few months. Ali caught the eye of Cody but she’s not like the girls he usually dates. Ali is a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and wants to do relationships God’s way, so she invites him to Cowboy Church.

Meanwhile, Ali’s Mom wants more for Ali than just the rodeo circuit. She tries to convince her daughter to take a break to enjoy a normal life in all the good and healthy ways. One of Cody’s best friends (Trey) is pursuing Ali and this causes a rift in their friendship. Also in this episode, Cody’s father, Mike, keeps trying to get in touch with him but Cody resists.

This is a well-crafted storyline. After watching it, I wanted to continue on to the next episode to see what happens next! The actors do a great job of staying in character and making their roles believable. The rodeo circuit scenes are true to real-life. It made me wonder if the actors used stunt doubles for those scenes. I sympathized with Ali’s sickness. I disagreed with Cody’s anger but could understand why it so hard for him to forgive his dad. I was on Ali’s Mom’s side because I want Ali to be healthy and happy and not be so focused on her dream that it causes her death. I definitely will watch the rest of the episodes in this series on PureFlix soon!

Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors. It’s an honor to watch this series on PureFlix about her book of the same title (A Thousand Tomorrows). I’d recommend this series to anyone who needs to be taught the blessing of faith, family and forgiveness.

Themes of this movie included:

· Sacrifice

· Supporting your spouse

· Making hard decisions

· Making each day count and living each day to the fullest

· Death, grief, loss

· Chronic illness and being a caregiver

· There is freedom in faith

Movie Review: "Heaven Sent"

My Review of the Heaven Sent movie:

Today, I have another movie review for you and a giveaway contest at the end of this post! In case you didn’t know, Pure Flix is like the faith-based version of Netflix. It works the same way the difference is in the content that points you back to Jesus Christ and shows you how much The Creator of the Universe loves you!

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review the movie Heaven Sent. The main idea for this movie, in words from the producers, is: Elise, a grandmother hurt by her past, and Patrick, a widowed pastor, have closed the door on love. But with faith and a little help from technology, will their live-streamed romance find a way?

I watched this heartwarming movie after it was made available for viewing on Pure Flix. Heaven Sent captivated me from the first scene and kept me engaged throughout the movie.

Now for my review:

When I saw that Karen Abercrombie was starring as the leading lady in this movie, I knew it was going to be good! I became a fan of Karen ever since her debut as Miss Clara in the movie War Room. I soon found that her performance as Elise in Heaven Sent did not disappoint!

She mastered not only her lines but her facial expressions. There wasn’t a moment in this movie when Abercrombie was out of character. The same could be said about the supporting actors. However, Abercrombie’s performance stood out the most as she is clearly becoming a legend.

Most impressive is the fact that not only was Abercrombie the lead actor, but she was also the executive producer who co-wrote this entire movie!

J. Leon Pridgen II played the leading man, a widowed pastor named Patrick. He did a great job showing how his character grew from heartbreak to hope as he entered a relationship with Elise.

This movie was filled with honesty, humor, faith, family themes, fun and sweet surprises. There wasn’t anything to not like about it. I related to and empathized with the characters. I thought the storyline was seamless and the plot was well-thought. The actors delivered a stellar performance.

If you want to watch a movie that will make you laugh, smile and believe in true love again then Heaven Sent is it.

Themes of this movie included:

· Letting go of our children/grandchildren

· Family over fame

· Finding love after loss

· Miscommunication

· Grace during misunderstandings

Movie Review for "The Thursday Night Club" and a Christmas gift for you!

My Review of The Thursday Night Club movie:

Today, I have another movie review for you and a giveaway contest at the end of this post! In case you didn’t know, Pure Flix is like the faith-based version of Netflix. It works the same way the difference is in the content that points you back to Jesus Christ and shows you how much The Creator of the Universe loves you!

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review the movie The Thursday Night Club. I watched this heartwarming movie earlier tonight (Nov. 26), after it was made available for viewing on Pure Flix. The Thursday Night Club movie drew me in from the start and kept me in my seat waiting to see how the story unfolded.

I’m eager to share my review with you. First, I’d like to describe the storyline in the words of talking points from Momentum then I’ll share my thoughts (review).

Here’s the synopsis of the movie:

This Christmas, be reminded what true friendship and true service to others look like by watching The Thursday Night Club with your family.

The Thursday Night Club
centers on a group of best college friends who meet every Thursday night for dinner and juggle their course load, jobs and hobbies. Victor and his daughter Jesse always pick a special Christmas charity project each year. Victor challenges the group of friends to think beyond their own lives, and tries to persuade the group to pick a project they are passionate about. Victor tells them they will see signs from God to guide them.

Everything changes when Victor is killed in a wrong-way driver accident right before Christmas. This group of friends are faced with new opportunities and challenges that push them out of their comfort zones and cause them to grow up in wonderful ways. Such as: Ava has an opportunity to volunteer at an assisted living home. Izzy meets a man working to expand the bone marrow registry and she has an opportunity to be a donor. Randy is reminded of a memory of his absent father. Kevin’s dad is laid off and is forced to figure out how to keep paying for college. Jesse grieves her loss and through the kindness of others, finds her purpose.

Now for my review:

The Thursday Night Club is a wonderful movie with a whole lot of hope and a whole lot of heart.

I was impressed how the writers made this story filled with plot twists, highs and lows, come together in the most beautiful way. The acting was well-done. The characters were multilayered and unique to their own. I appreciated the diversity of the group of friends whose lives the audience follows as they watch The Thursday Night Club.

There were things that caught me by surprise and there were moments that took my breath away. This movie was incredibly well-done. The casting director picked the perfect people to play each main and supporting character. The director of photography did a great job capturing the scenes in a way that makes the viewer feel like they are in the picture with the stars, watching this movie unfold on set with the actors.

I’d say to gather your family and friends to watch this movie together this Christmas. Enjoy a cup of cocoa or apple cider and be prepared for this story to warm your heart.

Themes of this movie included:
Charity
Kindness
Paying it forward
Spending time helping others
Making a difference
Opening yourself to God’s calling and purpose for your life
Signs from God
Partnership with Be The Match (bone marrow transplant awareness)

PureFlix Review: Saved by Grace

My Review of Saved by Grace series:

Today, I have a review of a new show for you that is coming to PureFlix starting this Nov. 6!
In case you didn’t know, PureFlix is like the faith-based version of Netflix. It works the same way but the difference is in the content. PureFlix content always points you back to Jesus Christ and shows you how much The Creator of the Universe loves you!

Pure Flix is a one-stop shop for faith and family-friendly movies and shows that you can confidently stream in your home with the entire family.

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review the new series "Saved by Grace." I watched every episode in the month of October 2022 before it was made available for viewing on Pure Flix this Nov. 6. This show is incredibly well-done, engaging and amazing! I’m eager to share my review with you. First, I’d like to describe the storyline in the words of talking points from Momentum then I’ll share my thoughts (review).

Talking Points:

Angels are amongst us and God has sent them on a mission to intercede on behalf of whispered prayers. Every encounter presents a new opportunity to change your approach to life. There are no chance meetings or coincidences in life.

The new Pure Flix Original Series “Saved by Grace” is sure to inspire and encourage with its message of hope that there is a larger plan at work through God’s handiwork and that we are not alone in our struggles. There’s a lesson for everyone in “Saved by Grace” because it explores different seasons of life and how our reactions and actions can ultimately change the path we are on.

“Saved by Grace” shares stories from everyday life and shows what happens when we offer and accept forgiveness. This show explores the kind of impact that day-to-day interactions can have, even if we don’t realize it at the time. In each episode, viewers will see how we can heal and overcome the past and that change in our hearts is possible to move forward.

Now for my review:

Reminiscent of the hit TV show, Touched by an Angel, this new PureFlix series "Saved by Grace" offers a fresh and unique spin on how God sends His Angels from Heaven to be His hands and feet here on Earth. This show will remind you that you're never alone, God loves you and He will always provide for your every need.

The actors for "Saved by Grace" who star in every episode are: Jennifer Taylor (Grace) and Cameron Arnett (Jeremiah). They do an amazing job playing the angels "Grace" and "Jeremiah"... a job so good that you might for a moment actually believe they are the real deal!

Each episode of "Saved by Grace" presents its own challenges in the storyline and brings about unpredictable plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat, eager to know how it will all work out. All of the actors (not just the angels) deliver a superb performance in each episode. I felt drawn into the story from the start of each episode an invested in the characters.

Food is a favorite feature in each episode, so much so that it made me hungry. The producers really paid close attention to every detail that makes up this wonderful new series and it shows!

"Saved by Grace" is a series that will touch your heart and resonate with you long after it's over. It will also introduce you to Pure Flix, prompt you to join and watch it again and again! And once you’re a member of Pure Flix, you’ll find more content to view that will encourage your heart. So don’t delay, join today!

Movie Review: Nothing is Impossible

My Review of Nothing is Impossible movie

Today, I have another movie review for you and a giveaway contest at the end of this post! In case you didn’t know, Pure Flix is like the faith-based version of Netflix. It works the same way the difference is in the content that points you back to Jesus Christ and shows you how much The Creator of the Universe loves you!

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review the movie Nothing is Impossible. I watched this heartwarming movie twice in the month of October 2022 because it was that good even though I think this story had a slow start. I’ll talk more about that in my review below. First, I’d like to describe the storyline in the words of talking points from Momentum (PR for PureFlix) then I’ll share my thoughts (review).

Here’s what they had to say:

“Nothing is Impossible” teaches us that times of uncertainty are when we should lean into our faith and trust God has a plan for our lives. Here’s the main story: Down on his luck, Scott Beck gets a second chance at his dream career of being an NBA player. After much loss, pain and regret, Scott Beck begins to seriously doubt his trials and tribulations are worth it. But now he has a second chance at both love and life. Will his dreams be realized? Can he let go of past pains and open himself to God’s purpose? Or will new challenges keep him from the future he always hoped for?

Scott was a high-school basketball star with dreams of playing in the NBA. Fast forward 20 years and he’s a janitor at the high school where he once played. Ryan, Scott’s high school girlfriend, is now in charge of her father’s professional basketball team, The Silver Knights. Financial woes leave her no option but to host open tryouts to attract media attention and bring new (and cheap) talent to the team. Nick, Scott’s best friend, coaches the high school basketball team and has dreams of being a pastor. He tries to mentor his friend who is stuck in the past instead of looking toward the future. Scott’s father needs a heart transplant but won’t quit drinking and doesn’t go to his doctor’s appointments.

As you can see from the summary above, life hasn’t been easy for the hero of this story—until life presents a surprising turn of events and opportunity for him! Get a clue when you read my review below...

My Review:

I think this movie had a slow start. I was ready to stop watching it after the first 10 to 15 minutes. But I hung in there and I’m so glad I did because after that 15 minute mark, the movie really captivated me and the story became very intriguing. Just like staying up late at night to finish reading a book because you cannot stop turning the pages, this movie kept me wanting to know what happens next! The actors did a splendid job of portraying the characters! I especially enjoyed the chemistry between Scott and Ryan. They really played their love interest role well. I found myself invested in the characters and their happiness. I was concerned about their health and well-being and I really wanted everything to work out for the good of these people. And every time the chaplain or pastor prayed over the basketball team in this movie, I found myself saying “Amen” because I was that into this movie! It was almost as if I were on the sidelines in this movie, rooting everyone on as they journeyed toward their dreams. Such a good film.

Here's a bit more from Momentum about the themes of this movie:
  • “Don’t be afraid of losing because winning doesn’t teach you anything.”
  • Despair causes us to distance ourselves from God.
  • Don’t let the past dictate your future, trust in God’s timing, not your own.
  • Dreams and aspirations, with prayer and discernment, can be messages from God on what our lives are supposed to be.
  • You can’t blame God for your choices.
  • We aren’t promised an easy life, free from trouble, failure or worry. We’re promised that we have God to lean on when troubles arise – our sufferings aren’t meaningless (Read the book of Job in The Holy Bible for a prime example of this point)
  • God is faithful! He’s still working on each of us. We have to be open to the possibilities He has in store for us.

My Closing Points

I think that a lot of people can relate to this movie, especially if you’re older than age 30 and the dreams you had for your life have not yet come true.

Movie Review and Giveaway for "An Unlikely Angel" on Pure Flix

My Review of An Unlikely Angel movie:

Today, I have another movie review for you and a giveaway contest at the end of this post! In case you didn’t know, Pure Flix is like the faith-based version of Netflix. It works the same way the difference is in the content that points you back to Jesus Christ and shows you how much The Creator of the Universe loves you!

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review the movie An Unlikely Angel. I watched this heartwarming movie twice in the month of August 2022 before it was made available for viewing on Pure Flix this August 26. I loved everything about this movie! I’m eager to share my review with you. First, I’d like to describe the storyline in the words of talking points from Momentum then I’ll share my thoughts (review).

This film is for parents who are trying to do it all and need to know they aren’t alone on the journey. “An Unlikely Angel” is a movie about second chances and prioritizing what’s truly important in life. The movie “An Unlikely Angel” helps bring us back to basics in an overcomplicated world. It’s okay to not control every aspect of your life.

Here’s the synopsis of the movie: Janie is a workaholic who is falling apart at the thought of becoming a first-time mom. She whispers a small prayer for help and it's answered in a very un- likely way when an angel intervenes and fast forwards her life. Will her second chance change how she approaches life? Janie is lucky enough to be given a second chance, but will she change before it's too late?

Now for my review:

There’s nothing about this movie that I did not enjoy! Sometimes when I start watching a movie, I change the channel after the first five or ten minutes because the plot is too slow or feels corny. But that’s not the case with An Unlikely Angel. The story hooks you from the first scene and keeps it moving at a pace so fast that if you blink more than once, you’ll miss something!

The producers of this movie did an amazing job at paying close attention to all of the details. As storytellers, they covered all of their bases! They chose the right actors for each part of this story!

The actors for An Unlikely Angel include: Jillian Murray stars in this movie as Janie (the successful business woman who is struggling with becoming a mother). Robert Amaya stars as Gabe (the angel). Aaron Mees stars as David (Janie’s husband). Sam J. Jones stars as Buck (Janie’s dad). Brittany Goodwin stars as Kelly (David’s female friend) and Delyla de Castro stars as Samantha (Janie’s daughter). And they all really did “star” in this movie because as actors, they each brought their bright light to the movie. The main characters and supporting actors were so brilliantly played, I think they all deserve an Academy Award!

This movie is sweet and heartwarming. But it also tackles real-life issues that most people—especially ambitious women who are struggling with the thought of starting a family—can relate to and learn from. This movie is equally a teaching tool as it is entertainment. The viewers of this film will learn life lessons that will help them in the long run in their journey well after the movie is over.

Themes of this movie included:

· Children grow up too fast

· Fear over becoming a first-time parent

· Letting go of the need to control everything

· Balancing priorities and determining what’s more important in life

· Second chances

· Trust in God’s plan

· The impact and power of prayer

· Back to basics and simplify what we’ve overcomplicated

· Going back in order to move forward

Watch "Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters" movie on PureFlix

My Review of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters (movie)
Review written by Alexis A. Goring

Pure Flix VIP Ambassador program asked me to review the movie Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters. I watched this heartwarming movie on August 5. First, I’d like to describe the storyline in the words of talking points from Momentum then I’ll share my thoughts (review).

According to Momentum, this movie is based on the New York Times Bestselling book written by Dr. Meg Meeker. Here’s the summary for this movie: When a wealthy businessman learns his daughter is engaged to a missionary, he embarks on a quest to keep her closer to home. But when his efforts go awry, he must learn to give up control and trust God with her future. Steve loves all three of his daughters – but does he really know who they are? Discover the heartfelt journey of a dad who is desperately trying to hold onto his little girls but learns he must give up control and trust God with their future.

Now for my review:

This movie was inspired by Dr. Meg Meeker’s best-selling book, “Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters.” The movie features real-life married couples Bart Johnson & Robin Lively and Maria Canals-Barrera & David Barrera. I thought that was a nice touch that made the movie all the more personal and engaging! In the movie, Steve has three daughters: Abby (adult), Zoe (teen) and Bridget (young tween). But this movie is centered more on Abby who wants to marry a missionary. She announces her engagement to Oz (the missionary) as a surprise when she visits home and says they plan to move to Kenya after they marry. This clashes with Steve’s plans for Abby to join the family business in Corporate America and have her own office as Junior Executive. From that point forward, the audience is taken on a wild ride of family conflict, drama, faith in action, life lessons and plot twists you won’t soon forget.

Themes of this movie included:
  • Seeing your children through different phases of life and viewing them through the eyes of others
  • The difficulty of letting go as your children grow and allowing them to live their own lives (trusting them to fly the coop)
  • Competition between dad and future son-in-law
  • Who is in control? Us or God?
  • Parenting is about being present and available and encouraging them to pursue their own dreams
  • Forgiveness
  • Acknowledging mistakes were made in order to change and grow
  • Seeing past your own expectations and allowing people to discover their own gifts and own path in life

I loved everything about this movie except the way they portrayed Kenya and talked about Africa. As a person of color who is part of the African Diaspora, I find it offensive when people in real-life or in fiction/media/movies, talk about Africa with words that paint a picture of it as a dangerous, dark and wild place filled with lions and poor people who live in mud huts.

Sadly, these were the kind of references made several times by the characters in this movie (mainly Steve who played the father of the bride). At one point, Steve said his daughter (Abby) would be “Living in a mud hut” if she moves to Kenya. And at another point, he told his colleagues that “She’ll be playing with lions and hyenas.”

These type of comments are not taken personal by mainstream America and obviously by the people who made this movie. But for people who have roots in the continent of Africa, such portrayal of their ancestors’ homeland is not only hurtful but untrue. This is 2022, most countries in Africa are civilized and have rich cities, nice restaurants, five-star hotels, expensive houses and luxurious resorts. Sure, there may be parts of Africa and other countries outside of Africa that are still tribal. But with the way Africa was talked about in this movie, you’d think the entire continent was stuck in primitive days.

For me, the way that Africa was talked about took away from the beauty of this movie. However, I think that overall it was a wonderful movie and the acting was superb. It’s just hard to get over the negative light they shone on Kenya (Africa) and sadly it also hurts because these are views that people have about Africa in real-life not just in fiction or movies. It’s hurtful and hard move past as a person who has roots in Africa.

Watch Live+Local on PureFlix

My Review of Live+Local
Review written by Alexis A. Goring

Live+Local is a fun new series that is available for viewing online via PureFlix.

The series is about KHUGG which is a radio station that features “TnT In the Morning” which is a local radio program with very high ratings. The show explores the tensions between Tommy and Tina as they try to survive the ups and downs of working in the radio industry and trying to trust Jerry who is their new program director. Tommy is a veteran radio talk show host and Tina is the new star.

Dave Coulier (Americans may know him from the popular 90s show “Full House”) plays Tommy and Emily Pendergast plays Tina. They are excellent actors with perfect comedic timing. Pat Cashman plays Jerry and Kendra Ann Sherrill plays Lucy. Their roles are not as prominent but they make great supporting actors in this series.

For the purposes of this review, I watched Episode 5 of Live+Local. First, I’d like to describe this episode in the words of talking points from Momentum then I’ll share my thoughts (review).

According to Momentum, in this episode, “Tina gets a courtesy car from Integrity Motors, one of her sponsors dueling with Tommy’s sponsor Legacy Auto. The owner of KHUGG, Mr. Wilmont, decides to retire and Jerry’s search for a new owner begins. Tommy’s contract is expiring as ownership changes loom. Lucy discovers that Jerry Graves is Johnny Griffiths. He purchased another radio station and turned it into a sports station and is known as the “station killer.” Tina confronts Jerry over his alias and the sponsors. He admits that he was hired to tighten things up at the station. Jerry pressures Tina to sign her contract and calls her the future of KHUGG Jerry outs Tommy’s broadcasting past that he hasn’t shared with Tina.”

Now for my review:

While the storyline was definitely intriguing, it was the acting that won me over—especially the professional relationship between Tommy and Tina as they co-hosted the show! They were really funny together and while light-hearted, they also weren’t hesitant to be real with each other. They addressed conflict head-on and made sure they truly heard each other and worked together to create a solution to maintain their working relationship in a positive light.

Faith played a role throughout this episode with emphasis on the importance of prayer when you’re making big decisions and starting new projects. The pressing issue of worship styles—what’s acceptable and what’s not—was also addressed in this episode after a caller was seeking answers about where they should worship because they didn’t like the rock band concert style at their current church. I like how Tina handled that one.

Even the weather girl was in on sharing faith over the airwaves! Since it was a rainy day, she shared a Bible verse with her weather report: “I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” Genesis 9:11 (NIV)

Overall, Episode 5 of Live+Local was a joy to watch! If you want a glimpse of what it’s about, watch this trailer: https://www.pureflix.com/movie/live-and-local and if you want to watch the entire series, join PureFlix now to watch all of Live+Local.

My thoughts on "Sweet Inspirations"

Dearest Readers of my "God is Love" blog,

Earlier today, I rewatched a favorite movie of mine called Sweet Inspirations.

It’s available for viewing on PureFlix, which is the Christian version of Netflix.

PureFlix is a wonderful platform that is filled with inspirational content for you to view and most of the material there is guaranteed (in my honest opinion) to be amazing!

Sweet Inspirations is one of their most amazing stories yet! I loved watching this movie for the second time around and loved sharing it with my Mom.

Here’s an interview with the star of the movie, Cassie Self:

I’d like to encourage you to watch Sweet Inspirations too and share this movie with a friend or family member. It will inspire your heart!

Continue reading this blog post for my favorite lines from the film then if you can, go watch the movie!

Listed below are my favorite lines from Sweet Inspirations ...

“Is crazy contagious?”

“Have any of you quilted a prayer blanket or done a house blessing or a bake off? I mean, outreach programs do make a difference but sometimes we have to stop asking the community to come to the church. Sometimes we have to get out from underneath those prayer blankets and take the church out into the communities because that is where the real difference is made!”

“Maybe this was His plan all along.”

“We both need to remember that this is not our burden to carry alone. Believe me, I have wrestled with God over this issue many nights. And I don’t think there’s any sort of easy answer. But He’s bigger than any debt. He’s bigger than any injustice. We just have to believe that He’s in control. All we should ever do is seek Him first. Surrender this.”

*Note from Alexis: Toward to the ending of the movie Sweet Inspirations, the main characters who are best friends, prayed together. I believe that is one of the sweetest scenes in the entire film.

Here’s what the star of the story said when she prayed:

“Dear Heavenly Father: I don’t know what you’re doing, why you’re doing it. As hard as it is to believe, I trust You. I trust that You have something far greater than anything we can think of or do. God, these girls at the shelter, they need you right now. Please, God, pour out your love and your blessings on them during this very dark time. And above all, Your will be done. Amen.”

Those were some of my favorite lines from the movie but I believe that other lines that the characters speak may inspire you too! So don't delay, watch Sweet Inspirations today!

It is a truly special movie with a message that will resonate with your soul, uplift your spirit, and encourage your heart.

God bless you, your heart and your home.

Movie Night Essentials with PureFlix

My Mom and I have a Saturday night tradition. We gather together in the family room, settle into our own cozy couch, grab essentials (like bottled water along with a light snack), and watch a movie on The Hallmark Channel!

It's a tradition that I will always treasure because there's nothing like watching a good movie with loved ones like family members! But Saturday nights are not the only time that I set aside some time to watch a movie.

Whenever I have free time during the week, I like to spend an hour or two watching a movie on PureFlix. The best way to describe PureFlix is that they are the Christian version of Netflix! The content is wonderful, very inspirational and encouraging for your heart.

Today, I'd like to share my "Movie Night Essentials" with you! A PureFlix representative reached out to me a few weeks ago and invited me to take part in this "Movie Night Essentials" promotional endeavor. It's an honor to participate in this promotion and I hope that you will enjoy what I have to share.

First, here's my Movie Night Essentials checklist:

Second, here's the scoop on each of my favorite PureFlix movies:

This is a hilarious comedy about the reason why we need to love each other like Jesus Christ loves us, even if we look different.

This is an amazing story about a teacher who takes a stand for Jesus Christ in a public school and then is put on trial for expressing her faith in God.

This movie is based on a true story about a teenage girl who passionately pursued others to reach them with the good news of Jesus Christ.

This movie is the classic case of "What if" scenarios. I think that most of us have at least once in our lifetime, wondered "What if..." for any given situation. This movie explores that concept and it's beautiful!

Now for my edible essentials:

Popcorn is the standard must-have snack when watching a movie in America.

If you eat buttered and salted popcorn, you're going to want fresh, purified water!

Whenever you have treats, you want something sweet. JoAnn's Fudge makes some of my personal favorite sweet treats!

Sometimes, you may crave ice cream while watching a movie. I love a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream with a few fresh blueberries on top!

~*~

And there you have it! My Movie Night Essentials! :)

I hope that you enjoyed this blog post and movie night recommendations.

But don't take my word for it, sign-up for a free trial of PureFlix and experience the joys of movie night for yourself! :)

God bless you!
