When You Walk Through the Water (God will be with you)

Dear blog readers,


This song  "When You Walk Through the Water" sings to my heart.


The lyrics are beautiful, timeless and true.

The Bible tells us a promise from God in the Book of Isaiah 43:2, which reads, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." A truth so simple, so valiant, so poetically true speaks volumes to my soul. These aren't just any words! These are promises from the One True God who reigns on Heaven and rules on Earth. 


The Creator of the Universe is promising us that He will be with us through "thick and thin"...He's the same God of yesterday, today and tomorrow...He's the Alpha and Omega, the Author and Finisher of our faith and He's completely true to His Word in good times and bad. He's the shoulder to cry on, the heart to talk to, the source of all wisdom, beauty and truth. Words cannot explain how Great God is to us and how faithful He is to those who know him and those who do not yet know. 


God doesn't play favorites-- He loves all of His children the same without preference. God...well I could spend the rest of my life telling you about God and how wonderful He is, but wouldn't you rather know Him for yourself? I don't know about you, but if someone is telling me how great their friend is and all the wonders He's wrought in their life, I would want to meet that friend and get to know them for myself! And I do say friend because you can be a friend of God. 


 The Bible book of John, Chapter 15, verse 15 quotes words from Jesus Christ (the Son of God) speaking to the terms we can be on with God. He said, "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." Wow. I don't know any other Higher Power who invites us, mere mortals, to be His friend. See? God's amazing! And He wants to you to know Him for yourself. 


So while you make your New Year's resolutions today or if you already made them yesterday, I ask that you consider adding a lifetime resolution to your list...Make it your purpose to get to know the One who loves you more than any man, woman, cat, dog, friend or parent ever could or every would. We tend to throw around that word "love" a lot. But I encourage you to get to know the only One who says it with truest, deepest meaning and can offer you more than the world...God offers you eternity.

New Year, New Life? :)

May you go forth into the New Year 2011 with renewed hope, a foundation of faith and trust in the One who made the universe and loves you passionately-- so much that He sent His only Son (Jesus Christ) to die for you then rise again and serve as your High Priest in Heaven. Know that God loves you and that when you put your faith in HIM, all things are possible. 


Ask God to help you make more than New Year's resolutions-- invite Jesus to live in your heart, shine through your life and bring others to know Christ. Know that great things happen when you serve God! He loves you like His own child and He can give you more than the moon-- He can save your soul and give you eternity.

God has a purpose and plan for every single human living on our planet Earth. I'd like to encourage you to spend time with God this year. He's just a prayer away! :) Ask Him to reveal His will for your life, then step out on faith and let God lead you into a beautiful future.

Team Hoyt...A beautiful reminder of God's love for us

The Great Commission

Dear blog readers,

Did you know that you have a mission in life?

It's known in Scripture as "The Great Commission" and it's from Jesus Christ!

Originally given to His disciples of Bible days, it's a message that still holds true today for all of God's disciples (those who profess faith in Him and are baptized, seek Him and want to do His will).

You can read all about it in the Bible book of Matthew, Chapter 28, verses 16 to 20.

Here's what it says (read in King James Version): "Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

"At Issue: Purpose in life": Jesus' "Great Commission" has four simple points:

1) Go and make disciples.

2) Baptize them to show they belong to God's family. 

3) Teach them to obey God's commands.

4) Know that Christ is with you as you do this. 

This was Jesus' final charge to the followers-- including us. Is this your mission in life? This is God's purpose for you with your children. It's your purpose in your workplace. It's your purpose in your neighborhood, with your friends, in your world. Ask God to show you what part you can have in fulfilling his call.
